Ed & Marilyn 'The Happy Wanderers' travel blog

It was an ordinary day until we experienced one of those “Here’s Your Sign” moments at Walmart.

We shared our coffee, then showered, dressed, and drove off to attend Mass.

As soon as we left the church we headed for Walmart to pick up some groceries, hoping to get back home early, due to the crowds everywhere.

I decided to pick up some hot wings at the Deli, so that we could grab a snack and not have to cook anything right away.

I asked for a dozen wings and when I received a puzzled look, I clarified my request to “12 hot wings, please”.

The next question posed to me was “Regular or Spicy?”

“Oh, just make it half and half”, I suggested.

I was shocked when I was told that “We can’t do that!”

“We can’t mix them up”.

“Why not?”

“Well, they are the same price but they are different weights” he explained.

I’m sure that I had a “Deer in the Headlights” look on my face.

He then tried to clear it up for me and make it easier for me to understand, as he offered a solution.

“I can put them in separate sacks” he suggested.

“OK” was all I could muster as a reply.

I could have explained that each individual wing probably weighed differently but I just gave up, grabbed my two sacks of wings, and headed to the checkout counter.

Back at the RV we put groceries away, sat together eating a bite of lunch, then each of us settled down to do our own thing.

I watched some football from the comfort of my recliner, with the window open beside me, and a nice breeze wafting in.

Marilyn took her book outdoors to enjoy the 76 degree weather with bright sunshine.

In the evening, we noticed that a Marathon of Duck Dynasty was showing on TV, so we planned to watch the entire thing.
