Los of snow, but dry roads

Hey, Diane and Keegan, What do you think of my new sweater...

south of Pittsburgh there was no snow, and some green grass

great temperature for December 19 in West Virginia

We finished our 2013 corn harvest yesterday. We didn’t expect to pull a quick get-a-way, but that is exactly what happened. The weather forecast didn’t look very optimistic for the next few days, and Glenna had everything packed and ready to go, so we got an early start and headed south.

We decided to travel the QEW to Fort Erie, cross into the U.S.A. at Buffalo, and head west to Erie, Pa. before heading south on I-79 to Pittsburgh. The roads were perfect and the weather beautiful. The temperature got up to 60F as we entered West Virginia.

Tonight we are at Flatwoods KOA in Sutton, West Virginia. We are set up, the only campers in the campground, and ready for supper. The satellite is up and working, so maybe I’ll watch the Leaf game before bed.

We could have arrived here earlier in the day, except we did a couple of side trips, including grocery shopping at a Walmart Super center. It was almost dark when we arrived at the campground. We must have seen at least 50 deer foraging along the roadside at dusk. I really don’t like driving that late, but we are here safely and tucked in for the night.
