HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO ALL AND THE BEST OF NEW YEAR'S TO YOU.

Awe-inspiring visit to a glacier in beautiful weather yesterday. We went on a catamaran close to the face of it then walked to see the other face using the constructed boardwalks and viewpoints (miradors). This is a famous one that is not retreating but still growing from the high Patagonian icefields as fast as it breaks off into icebergs in the lake. Absolutely magnificent.

The stopover before this was in El Chalten where we again had wonderful weather and saw unusually crystal clear views of the famous Fitzroy mastiff as we walked and scrambled all day over a trail of around 20km. Really challenged me!

Next we head into Torres Del Paine NP for 3 days of camping (in style) over Christmas.

Have been enjoying the vast Patagonian landscape with spotting of rheas and guanacos quite common, also the Andean condor soaring overhead, wild geese grazing and some black-necked swans.
