Woke up this morning to rain. Of course, I had just washed and waxed the truck a couple of days before...never fails. When you live in southern Arizona you don't expect rain except in the monsoon season, but here it was. Certainly hope this isn't previews of coming attractions. We packed up the rest of the stuff in the back of the truck, double checked to make sure we hadn't forgotten anything and hit the road about 9 a.m.
It rained on us all the way to Las Cruces, but not a hard rain, just enough to make me use the wipers. The trip was only 265 miles, about 4.5 hours. We arrived at our friends house about 2 p.m.
Pretty much an uneventful day and I would like to keep it that way. Checked the weather for our route and it looks questionable from here to Kansas City. Might have to change it but it looks like anyway we go we have a good chance of running into rain, ice or snow.
Our next stop is Tucumcari, NM tomorrow night which is another easy drive, we hope. From Tucumcari we will be heading NE on Highway 54 to Wichita, Kansas and on to Kansas City, MO which will be our longest days drive of about 620 miles. Prudy is NOT looking forward to that one. This is where the sedatives and the neck pillow are going to come in handy.
