It Was An Honor
Oct 6, 2013
|What a busy day we had today!
We shared our coffee, did the usual morning chores, and then readied ourselves for church.
At Mass this morning we sat with friends, Cathy & Steve, surrounded by other friends, Spike & Teresa, Beth & Lynn, Becky & Joe, Rich & Sarah, and Marilyn’s cousin, Karen, with her husband Rob and their son John. Another long time friend of ours is the Parish Priest at Holy Family Parish in Hannibal, and it was good to see Fr Mike again.
After Mass we visited for a few minutes with friends who kept coming up to us to share a hug and good wishes.
We then drove to the Chinese Restaurant where we met Steve & Cathy for lunch.
As soon as lunch was over we had to head off to Palmyra to watch Colby’s soccer game. His team lost big today as Colby scored the only goal for them.
The temps were hovering in the low 50’s and the sky dripped rain on us as we watched the game, but it was fun.
Next on the agenda was a drive over to Monroe City, our old home town, where another friend, Don, was returning from one of those “Honor Flights” to Washington, DC.
It was so nice to see many old friends once again, and to hold a large flag along the return route for Don and the Honor Guard.
The procession was led by a fire truck, several police cars, two Highway Patrol cars, and 87 motorcycles.
Our friend Don, is in ill health and it was a privilege to participate.
I must admit that it was good to get back home in time to relax and watch some of the Denver vs. Dallas Football game.
