05 Oct - John & Robyn delighted in Fayence after a trip to the local market days and a walk up to the clock tower. From here you can see the whole valley and surrounding farmland and mountains. We also went for a quick walk to Tourrettes to show them the “Hung Art” and then we headed to Saint Raphael via the local bus. The day had turned sunny so we all enjoyed sauntering along the waterfront promenade watching the boats and windsurfers catching the wind and waves. Saint Raphael is a newer town than the hilltop villages we have been too lately and there was a fair number of tourists wandering about, as we were. You could see St. Tropez across the bay and if we had more time it would have been a nice walk along the coast to check that area out as well. There just isn’t enough time…………….

06 Oct – Unfortunately our last day in Fayence has come too soon but it is packing up and cleaning up day today. We are off to Toulousse, France tomorrow morning and then into Saint Jean Pied de Port, France. From here we will start our Camino Trail hike on 09 October. We expect to be on the trail for about 10 days and then will head to the Spanish Riviera and stay somewhere around Barcelona. Because, from all the reports we have read (and we have read MANY!) the first day of the hike is the steepest, the longest and the hardest of the whole 300km trail. Keeping this in mind we have decided not to pack our notebook in our backpack (and if we could figure out a way to do the trail in just our undies we would be doing so!!!). As a result (of no notebook) we won’t be sending any more blog entries until about 20 October (we can hear the cheers from here!!!). We are sure you will all be sitting on pins and needles until you hear from us again – yeah RIGHT! Wish us well as we will need all your kind thoughts and positive encouragement as we tackle this hike.
