Trains and more trains! Nice, France

Waiting to board the train in Nice, France

Paris Train Station

Today we waved goodbye to our precious villa.

.

We were dropped off at the train station by our villa's owners. Unfortunately here in France the word "name" does not equal "full name" as it does in the states. It took us approximately 10 minutes to figure this out in order to print our boarding passes for our train journey aboard the TGV high speed train. After printing out boarding passes we had to wait patiently to find out what platform was assigned to our train.

we managed to board our train, and find our seats without knowing much French. However it was quite the struggle, BUT we made it. The French take their pets EVERYWHERE with them. The women directly across the aisle from us had a cat which they proceeded to take out of the carrier and cuddle it. The older woman behind the cat ladies had a small dog (Scottish terrier) who was extremely well behaved.

5 hours and 40 minutes later we arrived in Paris. Gone were the 75+ degree sunny weather from the south of France. We arrived to mid 50s and rain!

. Our taxi was late and was confused as to where he was to drop us off. Nevertheless we met our contact to pickup the keys to our flat in the 7th Arrondissement. After getting somewhat settled we ventured out to get dinner. This outing was far more productive than a week ago when we spent 2 hours in the supermarket in Vence. We managed to purchase basic essentials like detergent for our washing machine/dryer, breakfast items( yes we got eggs that were not refrigerated- I was brave), yogurt, bread for toast etc. we stopped at the butcher and picked up a rotisserie chicken for dinner, broccoli and other fresh produce from the produce storefront. Dinner tonight was the fresh rotisserie chicken, white rice and fresh broccoli. Stay tuned for tomorrow's adventure!
