Had a good 6km walk around Tours CBD last night, they have a new city tramway system, the Rue Nationale (main street plaza) has been completely redone up, new white paving for as far as you can see, with the tram tracks integrated within, no overhead wiring? Would be great if Sydney CBD did a similar thing down say George Street, the trams looked very modern, & so quiet. They just tooted a soft horn if anyone was on the tracks when approaching - worked so well, even cars could cross at various intersections without any drama. No barriers just nothing so everyone took care.
It is so very light here even at 8.30pm, last night for dinner we loaded up with a spaghetti meal for today's ride. Got away earlier this morning, it was a tad chilly early, no problem had a cycle path all the way out of Tours city, which was a blessing, as traffic was very heavy.
First section was along the Loire River running down stream to Villandry, so an easy ride, stopped there to check out the Chateau and Gardens, they were amazing, some of the garden sections were made up of vegetables but from a distance looked like flowering hedges, they turned out to be egg plants , cauliflowers, pear trees etc.
After lunch at Villandry we headed for Azay Le Rideau, however missed the turn and added some extra K's had to return to Villandry to find the cycle route as we ended up at a motorway on ramp!!!!
Had a long climb out of Villandry, to the top of the valley - rode past another reservoir !!!! On the way here.
To our surprise this town is very pretty and much larger than expected. The accommodation is great, we have an attic room, & ensuite all good.
