Hi
Slept in this morning, both Marg & I arose very shaky, luckily had ordered breakfast before hand so eventually had something to eat!!
Got away about 10am, headed for Chateau Chaumont' sur Loire, this time we got good directions from another frenchman thanks to Marg's excellent French, took a bike path all the way to the Chateau and then onto Amboise ~ about 50km, but felt like 60.
The Chateau was not as big as Chambord, but just as interesting, beautiful gardens and fantastic horse stables.
The ride to Amboise was a slog up a number of long climbs with strong head winds & some rain. I reckon the cycle path route was based on following the areas water reservoir tower locations as we had to constantly climb to all the high spots above the Loire Valley floor.
The accommodation in Amboise is great, shame we can only stay one night, there is lots to see at Amboise, which we plan to do in the morning before riding to Tours. Tomorrows ride should be a lot easier along the river most of the way - here's hoping!!!
