Ed & Marilyn 'The Happy Wanderers' travel blog

The plan for today was that Mike & Marian would follow us to “Sheldon’s” for breakfast and then we would all go on to the regular Saturday morning Farmer’s Market in Old Colorado City.

After visiting the market, Mike & Marian were going to Manitou Springs to shop while Marilyn & I returned to the RV.

Because of the terrible flash flooding in and around Manitou Springs last evening, any thought of shopping there was not going to happen.

The heavy rain caused extensive damage with many cars being tossed around, at least one home destroyed, and lots of damage to businesses in Manitou Springs.

A huge mudslide closed the westbound lanes of Hwy 24 just west of Manitou Springs. Even Hwy 50 was closed west of Canon City.

Mike drove with Marian, Marilyn & I riding along.

We all enjoyed a fine breakfast and then went shopping at the Farmer’s Market, and brought home some nice little treasures.

We saw other friends at the market. Jeff & Nan along with Ed & Jan were there and we visited as we walked for a little bit.

Back at the RV, I repaired our seed bird feeder and hung it up once again. It still suffers from “Bear Damage” but continues to do the job of attracting birds. They give us lots of entertainment as they feed the young ones.

We received our new credit cards in the mail yesterday. Now I must activate the new ones, destroy the old ones, and notify several companies we do business with, of our new card info.

In the late afternoon we walked over to Jeff & Nan’s Site. Roland was there as well as Eddie & Jan.

We all visited, laughed, and enjoyed our time together.

We took time out to give our friends a tour of our Mobile Suite, then gathered again at Jeff & Nan’s.

Around 6:30 we heard Mike & Marian talking so we walked down to their Site to join them and Jesse & Ginger for some easy conversation, before walking together to the Ice Cream Social.

Ginger made some delicious brownies with Reeses Peanut Butter Cup or an Oreo in the middle. Man, were they ever good!

As we stood in line to have our bowls filled with ice cream, it began to rain, so we all went to the game room to eat the ice cream and continue the conversation and laughter.

We hustled back to our own RV’s in the light rain. We walked and ran as fast as we possibly could because of the constant thunder and lightning.

Yes, that is scary!

Now we are dry and comfortable.

Life is Good!
