When we lived in Wichita, Kansas, before I retired, we often attended the “Mosley Street Melodrama” with clients who had finished their training. We certainly enjoyed the entertainment and looked forward to the fun.
Since retirement we have not been to a similar event but last night was the night.
Jesse & Ginger, Mike & Marian, and Marilyn & I drove in moderate to heavy rain, to Manitou Springs, where we had reservations for dinner at the “Iron Springs Chateau” where the Melodrama followed dinner.
All of us enjoyed ourselves and had lots of fun!
We were glad to see that the rain had ceased by the time the show ended, but we could easily see that the more than 2 inches of rain had washed lots of the red dirt into the road.
The gravel roads in the Campground were deeply rutted and washed out.
It was after 11:30 by the time I was able to turn off the light in the hope of getting a little sleep before the alarm clock went off at 2:30 AM.
I was taking our friend Ken to the airport in Colorado Springs as he was headed off to work in Trinidad. I’ll pick him up again next Saturday.
I was back home climbing back into the comfortable bed by 4:30 AM, but again I didn’t sleep much.
We were up by 7:00 sipping coffee. Then it was time to get ready for church.
Marilyn & I wanted to try out a newly opened restaurant and drove there for lunch. The food was ok but nothing spectacular and we may not return. There are so many really fine places to eat here in the Springs area.
I was happy to get back home where we changed into our “comfy clothes”, then I headed for my recliner and hopefully, a nap.
Our friends, Jesse & Ginger and Mike & Marian, were off on an adventure to Cripple Creek today, and other friends, Jeff & Nan, arrived to stay just two Sites from us, for the next two weeks.
We certainly look forward to having fun with Jeff & Nan, and introducing them to our other friends here.
So, there will be much to write about in the near future.
