Julie's Trip South travel blog

So i had big plans to take the ferry back to the mainland (honduras) today to do some white water rafting, but that would have required me to get up at 4am to get to the ferry, which would have required me not staying up late last night and drinking myself silly...so here i am another day on roatan...gee life is tough.

Yesterday the 4 of us rented a car and drove around the island...went to an iguana farm..it was cool! Some guy just set up an iguana refuge, and there were hundreds of the green scaly things and we got to feed them lettuce...does anyone know if iguanas can carry rabies? (or is that as stupid as my 'do cows bite?' question) cuz i got scratched by one of the big guys...im assuming they dont, but if i start foaming at the mouth youll know why. So we drove around, ended up at a beach where we were the only people...decided to scale some palm trees to get some coconuts and it was quite an adventure...steve nearly knocked himself unconscious!

Got back to the room and started playing 3 man (the lame drinking game from illinois state university...havent played in like 10 years) and things just went downhill from there...went out to dinner, then to a bar playing 80s music! I was in bad music heaven! Danced the night away to duran duran and cindy lauper on the beach and woke up with a bit of a hangover. It was worth it though...fun stuff.

Today just hung out on the beach again...slept off the hangover. Tomorrow morning we leave back to the mainland and should be in copan by tomorrow night so we will check out copan ruins sunday morning, then back to guatemala city for our final night. I cant believe im coming home, but i still get to travel to cali for 2 weeks, colorado for 10 days, and then off to miami, so i guess its kinda like im still on vaca, right?

Ive decided that when my year contract with doj is over, im going to travel south america...think ill start in peru and go to spanish school again...it would be nice to be fluent in a second language and im certainly nowhere close now, so spend a good amount of time in south america really studying...plus i could see machu picchu..sweet!

Yeah, im already planning my next trip, and i think ill make the next one 6 months so i really have time to get the spanish.
