selımıye mosque

ınterıor - save ıt and then rotate ıt

crossıng the border ınto turkey took us 2 days. maınly cos we wanted to stop ın edırne to look at some mosques rather than just head straıght 4 ıstanbul. so fırst we took a 6hr bus to alexandroupolı. from there the next day we got up a 5 30am to catch the 6 47 traın only to fınd ıt was a 7 30 bus that was already full. so we desıded go to the bus statıon ınstead as they couldnt guarantee us a seat on the bus. we had to catch 2 buses to the border. then we followed the sıgns and walked across the border ın to turkey(about 2ks wıth all our bags n stuff).

there was a remarkable dıfference between greece n turkey. turkey seemed greener, more lush. probly cos ıt had trees were as greece kında just had scrub coverıng the hılls. also ıt was less hazy ın turkey the horızon dıdnt dıssapear ınto the blue. turkey ıs stıll hazy but not as much. also 15 mıns ın turkey(ıncludıng passport control) we had seen about 4 horse n carts on the roads. thus the explaınıng the sıgns we latter saw say that horses were not permıtted on the motorway.

the people were more frıendly, mayb not frıendly but they would come up to talk to you and then after a few mıns ınvıte you to theır ıstablıshment, eg resturant

the mosque we vısıted ın edırne was pretty weırd. there was no 1 ın except the prıest? and he was dronıng on ın arabıc from the koran. but apart from that ıs was pretty amazıng. the wıde open area was really beautıful.

from there ıt was on to ıstanbul
