Outside the air museum

Tillamook cheese factory

May 27

Today we headed to Tillamook Oregon. We have been staying in Neskowin about 40 miles south at a ROD RV park. This park has a indoor pool and hot tube and is very well kept. The first stop was at the Tillamook air museum with an old blimp hangar and was it ever large maybe over 1 ½ football fields long. It was something to see and had a assortment of old world war two planes in it. Being a person that loves to walk around old airplanes and kick the tires and think back to what life was like over 60 years ago in the air world. I was lucky that a person was getting his pictures taken sitting in the cockpit of a couple planes so as I walked by I asked where the P 38 was and they said it was in another hangar and that they were going over there next and ask if I would like to see it. They are getting it ready to fly in a air show and it is one of only six that are still flying. This is one of my favorite planes to see and very rare to be able to see. They had a great price on jackets so ended up buying two. If your in the area it is a must stop.

The next stop was at the Tillamook cheese factory and was interesting place to see. They make some of the best cheese. We bought several kinds and also had some of the ice cream they make.

On the way back to Neskowin we stopped in the city of Tillamook for a late lunch and I had some of the best fish and chips with a beer batter and was great. Monique had a bowl of clam chowder. We will spend Wednesday doing the laundry and get ready to break camp and head to Long Beach Washington for a couple weeks.
