Game Rained Out, Fun at Reunion
May 25, 2013
|We lingered in bed this morning. The window beside Marilyn’s head was open and the sound of the steady light rain on the roof of the RV made it easy to just lie there, warm and comfortable.
We realized that we did need to get started on the day though, so we got up and went to the living room to relax with soft music, the fireplace and our coffee.
The rain had stopped but the temperature outdoors was chilly, and the gray, gloomy, overcast sky promised a good day to be inside.
It wasn’t long however, until we were in the car heading to town and the Mark Twain Dinette for a good breakfast.
Colby had his first T-Ball baseball game scheduled at 10:00 and we would not miss that, even if it rained.
As soon as breakfast was over we headed straight to Walmart to gas up the car and pick up my prescription.
Just as we were pulling out to head for Palmyra and Colby’s game, our phone rang. It was Jennifer letting us know that the game was called off due to rain.
We hated that because now we won’t get to see him play. At least for this season.
We returned home to relax for awhile before we left for the farm where Steve’s parents were hosting their annual family reunion, with lots of activities and a hog roast. That was all happening in spite of the rain and we only wish they had better weather for this event. We know they are disappointed too, but I’m sure everyone was having a good time no matter what the weather is like.
In fact we have pictures to show you how much fun the young boys were having.
Marilyn turned on the furnace to take the chill off this morning, and then the fireplace took over and kept us warm and cozy, even though the outdoor temp had fallen another five degrees, down to 56 by the time we returned from breakfast.
The campground is nearly filled with campers of all types. We feel for the few tent campers who are here, but remember the days when we did that too. I remember those days a bit more fondly than Marilyn does. LOL
We enjoyed the fun, good food and the company at the farm today and want to thank our hosts. They do a great deal of work to make the event fun for everyone.
It was 9:00 PM by the time we made it back home, so I had better get this posted.
If you don’t see pictures with this blog entry, check back in because I will get them posted tomorrow for sure.
