Barb & Steve's Excellent Adventure travel blog

2 Days ago we moved 256 Miles North from Petaluma to Blue Lake, CA. just north of Eureka, CA. It was a wild ride along Hwy. 101 or the Redwood Highway, more twist and turns, up hill, down hill but beautiful scenery of tall pines and rivers.

The first part of the drive was through fields of grape vines every available field was vines. Then we started up into the hills and our speed avg. was about 50 miles an hour due to the hills and curves.

Yesterday we drove over to Samoa and walked the dunes, then drove back south to the Avenue of the Giants. We stopped at several pull outs and took some pictures of the Giants. A stop at the Visitors Center with some wine and Cheese break included made for a very enjoyable day of touring.

We saved the best for last with dinner at Woodleys Marina Cafe very nice setting with good Seafood and great service. The oyster shooters were very good, I couldn't talk Barb into trying one, more for me.

Today we will move about 100 miles up the road to Smith River and spend 3 or 4 days here exploring The Red Wood National Forest and the Coast Line just 3 miles from the Oregon border.
