|Day 24 of our expedition – Saturday 20 April 2013
Ayers Rock Resort
Today we were supposed to be leaving Ayers Rock Resort, but we were all very tired from our early mornings and were really enjoying seeing Uluru and Kata Tjuta so we decided we would stay for one more night and have a relaxing day. You just can’t get sick of looking at Uluru.
We had a nice sleep in and started the morning with toast which was as treat as we haven’t been able to buy bread for a long time.
Mum and Dad washed, today as the forecast is going to be 34 degrees so the washing dried well.
After finishing the washing we drove into town and had a look at the visitors centre and did a bit of grocery shopping. This visitor’s centre was very interesting, it had stuffed animals throughout the centre. It also had a lot of games and quizzes on the wall. We learnt a lot here.
Alex, Mum and I caught the free bus back to the campsite, we did a loop around the resort. By this time it was extremely hot so we looked forward to a nice refreshing swim.
When we got to the pool there was so many people including a school group that you couldn’t move. The same person owns all the accommodation at Ayers Rock Resort and there is all different grades of accommodation, with camping being the lowest. We decided to upgrade and go to the next hotel pool for a quick dip. This only had 4 people in it as we think they were all in their air conditioned rooms. We brought along our colourful beach towels when we realised that they all had there matching white towels supplied by the resort!
After a quick 10 minutes we were out of there and we drove back to our campsite. For the rest of the day we used a cold shower to cool us down.
This afternoon there were amazing clouds in the sky so we went to Uluru again for sunset. We enjoyed this again.
We said goodbye to the Atkins as they were getting up much earlier than us next day for sunrise and from now on we would make our own way home.
