Engagement honeymoon travel blog

This morning we awoke and decided to have our breakfast by the pool. I'll admit, I prefer the beach, but it wasn't as close to our accommodation this time. Regardless, what a beauty of a morning! By far, Western Australia has been the nicest weather we've had on the whole trip. Not that we can complain about that either, as we've had great weather the whole time! (Especially considering the cyclone that happened north of us, the fires south of us, and the flooding east of us. One news reporter stated, 'if you're chasing the sun, perth and Western Australia is the place to be!'). We've felt very fortunate.

On the advice of the hotel clerk, we decided to head down to Augusta for the morning. A short drive south where the Indian meets the South ocean at the southern most point of Western Australia. There is a lighthouse and old historic water wheel to tour around, so we spent a couple hours in the area. We started on our trek back north, and stopped in at Hamlen Bay for a picnic. The area is known for stingrays, as the local fishermen often feed them scraps on their return from a trip. We didn't see any rays, but Clint did get quite the amusement watching people try to load their boats onto their trailers in the huge waves. It took about 10 people in the water per boat to load! Then we decided to sit by the ocean for lunch. However, that didn't last too long, as this crazy wave came out of nowhere and soaked everyone on the beach! And our lunch! So we decided to carry on and tour some wineries. There are so many in the region; we made it to 3 that afternoon. I think we're getting pretty good at pretending to know what we're doing. Clint has even started swirling the odd glass and smelling it before tasting. once back in town, we thought we'd grab a quick bite, then head out to try and catch sunset.. But we missed it again! Ah well, it was still a beautiful night!
