|After thoroughly enjoying a huge breakfast buffet, we set off with Chris, John and Cindy to check out the botanical gardens. A half hour later we found the huge park, bustling with people on a gorgeous Sunday morning. The gardens were gorgeous with a cool and hot orchid garden, a carnivorous plants section, rose garden, cactus and lots of ferns, etc. The walk back to the hotel was uphill and I'm finding I'm finally acclimatized.
We said goodbye as they're all going home, and got a taxi to our hostal. We dropped off our bags and set out to explore. Quito practically shuts down on Sundays and the only thing open were barber shops (Weird?) and the market. I'd love to buy something to support the local artisans but .... it's all the same.
Susan came and visited and we all went out for a sub. Ever tried to order a sub in Spanish? It's great fun. While eating we noticed a travel agent across the street that was open so we went over and chatted with a fellow who said they aren't usually open so it was kind of weird. Anyway, we sort of booked a trip to Mindo for Tuesday, said goodbye to Susan again and back to the hostal.
