Monday, February 25 Our last full day in Cuba

After a farewell breakfast we got our stuff together to leave Jibacoa. Jorge came to drive us to Havana. Our previous Casa Particular was booked, but we got a great place and Jorge drove us right to it. We went out to lunch then shopped a bit and looked around Havana. In the evening we had dinner at the Casa we had stayed in when we first arrived and picked up stuff we had left there. Tried unsuccessfully to find internet.

We had to get VERY early to head for the airport for a 6 am flight. Cuba Air has absolutely the worst food of any airlines I've flown. And that is saying something. Peggy

Well,we arrived in Mexico City about 8:30 am. It was sad to leave Cuba and head back to reality. Our 3:30 am taxi was on time and we zombie like piled in for the ride. It was nice to get back to Casa Gonzalez where we have been upgraded to a nice suite with a wonderful patio where we are currently sitting enjoying the 83 degree weather and tying up loose ends. There is wi-fi so some of us are in heaven receiving news and email. Yesterday the president of Cuba announced a succession plan and a move toward democracy. May I humbly point out the coincidence of Ms Moe and myself bringing world peace to the countries we visit? We do put down our foot at visiting North Korea. Sorry, someone else will have to make the trek. I hope that the US government will now start lifting the embargo. The people that we have met are entrepreneurial and want to develop a better life for themselves and their families. I wonder what that will look like in 5-10 years.
