At the Visitor's Center

We slept poorly in the unfamiliar beds, but were up, showered, dressed, and ready to go by 7:30 this morning.

Trent & Teresa were ready at the same time so we all went to the Maswik Lodge for breakfast.

We lingered over our meal, just enjoying the time of relaxation, conversation, and good company.

We finally decided to drive out to Desert View, about 25 miles east of the South Rim Village.

The lively conversation and laughter continued all day as we moved from one site to another, walking and talking, taking pictures all the way.

We reached the Visitor’s Center after lunchtime, and had a fine time there. Trent & Teresa spoke with a Ranger who had recently hiked to the village of the Havasupai Indians, a trip of 8 or more miles one way, as they are interested in doing this same hike some time in the future.

We watched a film about the Grand Canyon before visiting a nice, newly constructed Bookstore, where we browsed for awhile.

The hunger pangs finally caught up with us around 2:00 in the afternoon and we drove to the Cafeteria at Maswik Lodge where we enjoyed a tasty lunch, along with more conversation and laughter.

We were just having a good time with our Canadian friends!

It was a bit after 3:00 PM when we returned to our rooms, hoping for a little nap.

Just as I lay down on the bed, my cell phone rang. It was our daughter and grandkids. We put the phone on “Speaker” and chatted away until there wasn’t much left to talk about.

Marilyn & I spent the remainder of the afternoon and evening reading our books.

Tomorrow we will head for Sedona and Jerome, then on to our homes in Gold Canyon.

It has been fun for sure and we’re glad that we have yet another day of fun with these two good friends before this road trip adventure comes to an end.

Life is Good!
