Ahh the Ngorogoro Crater. After seeing it on various documentaries over the years I was actually looking forward to venturing into its depths. Its hard not to try to attempt the David Attenborough voice when going to places like this,I suppose its more in homage to the man himself for bringing these areas to life on our tv screen rather than trying to be a smartarse........

The crater itself is pretty bloody impressive. The descent down a winding dirt road gives you your first glimpse of how big it actually is,with the cloud covering the outer rim,it surely makes for a spectacular sight.......

So the ususal pattern of driving around in the 4WD searching for various game was done, with the usual anticipation of hopefully seeing a kill high amongst us all.The closest we came was to see a couple of lioness lounging near to a herd of zebra but they seemed more interested in enjoying the sunshine more than anything else....

With the ususal sightings of all the ususal suspects being done,we headed out to pack the camp and make our way back to Arusha to meet the truck and head off to Dar Es Salaam...

This was a good few days away from the truck and certainly a good excursion to do although the price involved was expensive when compared to what you pay and what you get at Etosha.I'd still recommend it to anyone if they have the opportunity as it really is a once in a lifetime thing to do...........
