2012-2013 (Passion for the Road) travel blog

November 2/12

We got up early to get a head start on a long haul it was another gorgeous day for a drive. We were able to get a cache in Alabama at a rest station it was an interesting station with a full size rocket welcoming us into Alabama. Just north of Hattiesburg, Mississippi where we were going to stop for the night, the tire pressure monitor went off on another different trailer tire and we landed on the off ramp shoulder for the Hattiesburg-Laurel Regional Airport. We had a nice view of Mississippi countryside. We got the tire changed with a 1 3/4 hours wait until we were on the road again. We got checked in at the Sleep Inn & Suites and had to walk to grab dinner. There wasn’t very much to choose of McDonalds or Farmers Market. The Farmers Market was all you can eat buffet. They had an array of different southern cooking including hush puppies, collard greens, lots of different fish, ribs, brisket, frogs legs, and yes, even alligator (which we tried, tasted like chicken). We travelled through 3 states again.

Hotel Notes:

Choice Privileges Hotel, 1 King Bed Non-Smoking, $64.84, Nice quiet room (our room had a view of the trailer where it was parked), Good WiFi, Nice continental breakfast, Good RV Parking is available and we parked right in fromt of the hotel, Amenities require a short drive, Easy Highway access
