Cathedral

Fetching rafting outfits

Tile floor at church

After a four hour bus ride (semi-cama), we arrived in Salta, a town in the northwestern corner of Argentina. We checked into our hotel and headed out to try the local version of empanadas...i believe we have had empanadas every day since landing in Santiago. This is a very colonial-looking town, reminding us of towns in Ecuador and Peru. The cathedral here is pink, and very ornate inside. Dinner? More empanadas!

Today we had a variety of options for activity. Rick and Lorna climbed the local quite steep hill and returned by teleferico, and I joined six of our fellow travelers in a rafting adventure. It was a blast! And, at the end, several of us jumped (not really jumped!) into the water and floated to the end. Our treat? Fabulous Asado...sausage and grilled beef, salad, potatoes, rice and Melbac wine that Vivian had taken along. Tomorrow we fly to Buenos Aires, leaving at 5:30 a.m.

Hasta!
