This afternoon, the Resort on Carefree Boulevard (commonly called the ROC and pronounced rock) held a ceremony to honor veterans present and past. I helped by passing out programs and waving a small flag for the USMC. We were outside to raise the US flag and pledge allegiance to it as well as sing our national anthem. Then the veterans were called to the front of the group and stood behind and beside the flag bearers for their branch of the service. We all sang the anthems of each of the services. Then we recognized those who served in all the wars and conflicts before going inside for some refreshments and music by the band. There were over 25 veterans in the ceremony, but there are others who couldn't attend for one reason or another.
I didn't bring my camera because I was involved in the ceremony, so I got permission to use pictures taken by Flo, an Air Force vet who was also involved in the ceremony, but brought her camera!
Seven of us went to Applebees at 3 PM to have a free meal! Most got the chicken penne pasta, but I got the sirloin steak and mashed potatoes.
It was a good day - thanks for supporting us!
