Pensacola was a pleasant surprise. It is a quieter part of Florida and maybe isn't as warm as the southern parts, but they claim to have the best beaches and water in Florida. After seeing it, I think it is really true! The sand is pure white, and the water is a beautiful turquois!

They have great seafood. The big news here is the recent settlement with BP over the oil spill from the Deepwater Horizon oil rig. Apparently the beaches and fisheries have mostly recovered but people here are still bitter over it because it ruined the local economy. BP covered up the severity and ignored the problems that caused the spill, and now the locals think BP is not being punished enough nor paying enough fines and damages.

We went to the Naval Aviation Museum at the Pensacola Naval Air Station and it was fantastic! We think it is one of the best attractions we have been to so far.
