November 6-7, 2012 – Paul’s Valley, Oklahoma to Emporia, Kansas
November 6 – I left Paul’s Valley about 10 and drove to Lexington where I saw a VW Bug which has been made into a spider. It is located near a church, but the church used to be a VW dealer.
I went to Norman to see the statue of James Garner. I had not realized that he was from there. There were also other statues in the park – a conductor, a caboose man and one dedicated to early educators. As I was leaving I drove by a building which had no identification on it but there were a number of sculptures in the yard. All of them were for sale. I had a good time looking at them and taking pictures. My favorites were the Ham and Eggs, mountain lion and Hitchin a Ride.
I stopped in OKC to fill up with gas and call Patsy. We agreed to meet at the I35 and 51 intersection. Guyla and Donald came with her, and we went to Mulhall to have lunch at Lucille’s. The only problem is that Lucille’s is only open Thursday-Sunday and only for supper. So, we went back to Stillwater to have lunch at Boomerang’s. We had a good visit. Guyla and Donald went home, and Patsy took me back to my car.
I made it back to Emporia just as it was getting dark. Carl had not come to pick up the key so I’m guessing that the parts did not come in.
I did not stay up to watch the election returns. I really thought that Obama had blown the election so I just went to bed.
November 7 – I slept late today and then completed reading the book I had gone to sleep on last night. I turned on the TV and found out that Obama had won. I’m feeling a lot better today.
I went to Carl’s and found out that the parts had not come in. Carl is going to give me the part numbers, and I am going to call Bob Tiffin in Red Bay and see if I can’t expedite getting the parts here. I expect that I will be in Emporia for another week.
I had lunch at the IHOP and talked to Cathy. She is from Sweet Springs which is where a cousin of mine is from. I need her married name as she needs to be specifically excluded from my will. It’s a long story, but she is the kind that knows I have no living relatives other than her, her brother and a couple of cousins in California. She might try to contest a will that didn’t specifically name her and exclude her. The others won’t try anything, but she would if she thought she could get away with it.
It has been nice here today, but the cold weather is coming. It is supposed to snow here Tuesday of next week. It’s not supposed to accumulate, but I don’t even need or want to see snowflakes.
