After driving through some pretty desolate landscape yesterday, we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at “Boot Hill RV Park” in Alamogordo, NM.
Large, roomy sites, clean and neat, very quiet at night, and distant mountains, make this a nice place to stay for awhile.
We have been traveling for nearly a week, in tough wind conditions, not to mention the fridge issue and cold weather we try to avoid.
The result of that for us was a great night of sleep. We were both tired and worn out, so we fell into bed last night shortly after 8:00 PM.
We each slept for a solid eight hours without waking and felt great this morning.
We looked up a few things on the internet and typed the addresses into the GPS.
Oh, by the way, speaking of the internet, I tried many times to post even one picture on my blog last night and was totally unable to post any photos at all. Now I guess you’ll have to wait until we get to Gold Canyon to see the pictures.
Today I made the phone call to sign up for internet and cable TV, and one to have our electric power turned on at the resort.
Late in the morning today, Bob & Janet joined us for a drive to White Sands National Monument. We enjoyed that a lot.
We watched a short video, purchased a few items at the gift shop, then drove the eight mile road into the heart of the white sand dunes.
We have pictures to share with you but once more, will have to wait until we get to a place where we have better internet service.
I’m not sure if we will have any internet service after today, as we travel to Deming, NM and then to Kartchner Caverns State Park.
We will arrive at our winter home in Gold Canyon, Arizona on Thursday and should have a full range of services at that time.
Today, after we left the White Sands, we drove back to town and found a BBQ place we wanted to try.
The food was good but not outstanding. In any case we drove back to the resort where we rested a few moments before taking the trucks for fuel.
Now we are settled in for awhile, hoping for another great night of sleep.
Tomorrow we go on to Deming and look forward to a visit with my cousin, Cathy, and her family.
