My European Trip-2005 travel blog

Well, today was our last day in lovely Venice. Started the day by having breakfast in the hotel....25euros each...everything is so expensive!! Then we went to the Doge Palace...I told you that we did that yesterday but we were actually in St. Mark's Palace...that's what happens when you only get a few hours of sleep a night. The Doge Palace was exceptional! Val and I had shared a headset while Helgi and Norm wandered along by themselves. Then we headed back to the hotel to move our luggage for transport to the ship. So we only had a half day to really do what we wanted. I'm still having issues with sleeping....even with the sleeping pills....just can't seem to get on a schedule...maybe tonight. We took a water taxi to the ship which was out in the water off Venice....so beautiful to see Venice from the back of the boat as we left...another gorgous day! Boarded Sea Dreams and were greeted with champagne and snacks. Unpacked and then promptly went to the spa to get a massage. What an experience that was! The spa is run by women from Thailand. I got a Asian massage that is like a deep tissue and within 5 minutes thought "I'm not in America anymore!"....a full body massage and I do mean full body! This little tiny woman had the strongest hands I've ever experienced and she was all over me....straddling me putting her whole body into it....used elbows, knuckles...you name it....and sat me up and straddled me from behind and cracked my back in several places...sounds bad but it actually felt amazingly good....and boy was I a bowl of mush afterwards. Then it was off to our first dinner on the ship...good to have some great food. We are off to Hvar, Croatia tonight and will dock in the morning. We've rented bikes for tomorrow so we'll see what we find in Hvar!
