Orleans Bay Van Park

Wharton Beach

To kill some time today we drove to Condingup, quite a reasonable village; as a local explained the farming around here is very good and gets better until you get to Cape Arid. As it was too early for lunch on to Duke of Orleans Bay then Wharton’s Beach. Really lovely out there; the sand is whiter than a celebrities teeth. It’s about as far east on the south coast of WA you can take a normal van. There is a road thru to Balladonia which is half the distance of going via Norseman but the last 90km is dirt and a local says if I took it easy you can get thru to Balladonia "no worries". Obviously it’s well used judging by the traffic coming towards Esperance. I’ll give it a miss, no satellite phone or EPIRB. Strange at Orleans Bay there is full TV and mobile (Telstra) cover, none of that in Salmon Gums….

Just heard from the Kia people here that the parts have not arrived so we will be here at least another night, NRMA have extended the car hire and paid another nights accommodation. I have sent an offensive email to Kia Australia explaining that this is not a 3rd world country and parts should be held in state capitals and not have to be shipped by camel train across the country, or at least allow the use of generic parts when the genuine are not readily available

We are gutted each morning as the van park empties and we are forced to remain. Hell we can’t even go to the nude beach and perv as our Binos are in the car…. I may have to see the museum tomorrow just for the hell of it……….
