The drive today is short, about 160 miles from Crandon, WI to Stone Lake, WI, where we’ll visit with long lost cousins.
Along the way we’ll have to stop and see a Roadside Americana point in Phillips, WI. It’s the Wisconsin Concrete Park. Wisconsin concrete Park is one of those Roadside Americana stops for us. So we took pictures. It is an outdoor museum of 234 embellished concrete sculptures and other objects built by retired lumberjack Fred Smith. Smith created a cohesive panorama of local, regional and national history, combined with legends derived from late 19th and early 20th century Northwoods culture. Conceived and created during his senior years.
When our drive was finished we arrived at the brand new and not quite finished yet, Stone Haven RV Park in Stone Lake, WI. What a nice facility this is and when it is done next spring we hope the RV’s are lined up out the driveway just waiting to get in. It’s not advertised in the books yet but will be. The phone number for reservations, 715-699-0084.
