Capitol Reef National Park is unique. I think it is mostly brownish sandstone. However it is no less spectacular. There are many canyons. We walked into one for about 1/2 mile. It was about 100 yards across. You could just imagine the river rushing through and carving out the canyon. In fact there were warnings about not going into the canyon if there was a threat of a flash flood. Then we drove thru Glen Canyon which was amazing in itself. I named two buttes in the distance as the twin butts but Kay didn't get the joke. (I got it, but, no pun intended, I was pretty bored by that time. Maybe it's ime to go home!) I think I'll like Arches better.
