St. Pancras station in London

Heather awaiting the 8:57 Eurostar from London to Lille, France

Saturday September 22

We were up early and walked from the hotel to the international Eurostar Station in St Pancras Station. It was a sunny morning but quite cool; an autumn nip in the air. We bought food for breakfast and for lunch at a Marks and Spencers foodsstore in the station. We sat for a short while before boarding the train for Lille around 9:00 am. The procedure for getting on the train for the continent is similar to board a plane; the luggage scanned, people scanned, passport and boarding pass (ticket) checked. We cleared French Customs before boarding the train.

Heather’s watch and the clocks on the two cameras were set forward one hour and we were on our way to France. The time to Lille was about 90 minutes, with approximately 20 minutes spent in the Channel Tunnel. We waited in Lille for about an hour and a half before boarding the train for Avignon around 1:00 p.m. and we should arive around 5:00 p.m.
