Bonneserra,
up early..left for Florence, Italy. A six hour ride ..drove by mount vesuvious, naples, and montecassino built in 524 AD bombed and re-built in 1943. Drove through the Apelaine mountains. We saw a village perched on top of a volcano called Orte..which was once a fortress against enemies.Lots of tobacco fields and sunflowers. Orvieto..it is a butte, a town built on volcanic ash, lots of underground tunnels, and a well 20 metres of double helix to haul water up and down.We arrived in Florence..walking tour of the inner city..saw the cathedral of Santa Maria del Flore the 4th largest cathedral in italy. ornate outside and then they ran out of money so the inside is not decorated. Michaelangelo's David statue, another basilica, then drove onto montecattinni a tuscan spa town where we are located for the night, We shopped for leather and gold in florence. Beautiful stuff! not bad prices. lots of fun on the bus trips ..our tour guide always shows movies related to the area we are travelling in.
Still trying to master the squatting to pee thing. I hate that! supper was good at the
hotel..four course meals and drinks to boot! but it has been unbelievably hot at 35-39 even 40 some days!! sweating is no longer a past time! breathing makes you sweat! having a few drinks now..tomorrow off to leaning tower of pisa, Monaco and Nice France.
more to come...
