From Hidden Ridge RV Resort – Hopkins, MI
Today we made the shortest trip we have ever made moving from one location to another……….…..…85.9 miles! As planned, we slept in catching that hour we lost yesterday going to EST from CST and then left about 12:45 p.m. to make the small mileage move.
The move might have been small in mileage but was huge in finally finding the COOLER weather we have been searching for since leaving Texas July 1st. As we drove toward our new location the truck outside temperature reading kept falling……..going as low as 52 degrees before reaching Hopkins. This drop in temperature was also accompanied by rain and strong easterly winds the entire trip.
When we arrived at the park the rain had stopped for the moment but the temperature was 55 degrees still with a good breeze from the east. My first job was to slide out the bedroom slide in order to get to the front closet and get Rudy a jacket for the outside set-up routine…………….started the day in a t-shirt and shorts! I was the lucky one that got to go inside and begin putting stored items back in their places and opening the remaining slides……at least inside it was somewhat warmer and no wind!
Oh but wait……..just as I had hung the pictures back on the walls and taken tie wraps off the cabinets Rudy comes in with news that the right front jack will not come down!! Thank goodness for advertisers on park maps where we found an RV Center who we called for a mobile RV tech. They could not furnish a mobile tech at that time, but said if we would bring the trailer to them they would have an in-house service tech see what the problem could be.
Retie cabinets, put pictures back on the bed and bring in the slides hoping this would be an easy fix and we would soon be back at our site in the park. Thankfully, it was as they determined the motor and jack both were in working order and that the problem was the pin had worked its way out. A good diagnosis, replacing the pin, testing the jack and about an hour lost had us back at the park once again setting up for our week stay.
Outlook at least for tomorrow is still showing some rain so we will have to check our “tourist info” to see what we might be able to do indoors. The temps for the week we are going to be here look like what we have been hoping for while enduring the triple digits in Missouri and Iowa! Really looking forward to this, in fact when we returned from supper the temp in the trailer was 66 degrees and we fired up the furnace to take the chill off…………this on August 10th!
Photos for today were again snapped with raindrops falling but they should give you an idea of how nice our new home base is. They have 333 sites so it is very large, has a pool, bath house with laundry, exercise room, clubhouse with media room, billiards and lounge area, horseshoes, beach volleyball court, basketball court and tennis court………..more than we will use this week!
So as I send this, we are finally all settled in for the long stay.
Till Later……………………….
