Beaumont, TX
Gulf Coast RV Resort
There’s just something about Texas, I can’t put my finger on it, but we both like Texas. Ron said the air smells better and I think the people are friendlier. Every single person we’ve seen has been friendly and pleasant. Everybody in the RV park waves and smiles. Most people in an RV park will wave but I’ve noticed the smiles too. Even the kid riding his bike has a big smile and a wave as he passed by. It’s only been 24 hours since we’ve been in Texas and I sure hope the rest of the time we spend here is as pleasant as it’s been so far.
Today was chore day so we grabbed a quick breakfast at Cracker Barrel and came back to the RV park to do laundry. The weather is unbelievably hot and humid so it was quite miserable doing laundry with a 105 heat index even if the laundry room was air conditioned. The A/C just couldn’t keep up and we were very hot. We had some thunder booms so I checked the weather and Beaumont had a special weather statement warning of “tropical funnel clouds.” They said the tropical funnel clouds were forming but were not reaching the ground and if they did reach the ground a tornado warning would be issued. I haven’t seen that type of weather statement even living in tropical Florida.
Tomorrow we travel to Houston.
