You cannot imagine how beautiful it is here. white buildings and houses with blue trim and roof tops sitting high atop mountains overlooking the aegean sea. so hot ..very hot..35c. tiny winding roads that tourists manage to view the merchandise in the tiny shops..bought a few things here. the people are very friendly too. arrive on the island, went on a scenic island tour from OIA (pronounced eeeya) by bus, pictures did not stop here...lots of climbing the tiny winding paths to see all of the views. rick off to the bar again..left me to shop which was nice.
got daring and left the pack and headed out on our own via bus to the beach a 20 minute ride. crowded ..lots of tourists. got off the bus..Hungary and just headed for the first restaurant which was two feet away. had an excellent lunch of prawn, calamari, and lobster and a few vegetables and of course more beer and mojitos...yummy!
Off to the beach...it has black sand as this island was built from volcanic ash hundreds of years ago. the sand was so hot you could not put your feet in it without shoes. water so blue...high cliffs behind...we chose this beach because it is larger than the beaches with red sand or white sand. lots of people here..you have to put your towel down on the pebbles..not really sand. spent a few hours here..rick and Mel went in the water..said it was very refreshing..salt water. we actually baked here.
back to the ship and headed back to Athens to pick up the rest of our family passengers.
