Shelagh, Erin (my cousins) and I took the kids to the beach for the day. We had a late and lazy start and finally headed there about lunch time. Ryan and Graham were in heaven! They'd never seen such enormous waves. They must have been in the water for 4 hours. Ryan was so pleased that he'd brought his boogie board. It came in very handy and as he said "I'm the only kid with one of these!". This was used to try to persuade me that I should let him wander quite aways away from where we were sitting. He used all of the usual tactics. "But I can touch the bottom." "The waves are better over there." I'm sure you've heard it all before. Well he did live even though I restricted how far away he was.
Sun was hot and pretty much all of us were treated to sunburns. Ryan's was particularly bad as although we had reminded him several times to put his screen on he "forgot" (he hates sunscreen). I was sad that he got a burn but I have a feeling that he will be a little more responsible from now on in that department. Thank goodness.
Erin treated us to ice cream cones and surprisingly Liam ended up wearing most of his. Shelagh, Erin and I stayed up late to sort through family photos and do a very rushed pedicure.
