So we had a great day yesterday exploring North Goa. Rains treated us well and never happened while we were walking around! First drovw north and then across to Arambol which was a lovely route along the Terekhol River where we saw fishermen in their dug out boats. The scenery really is wonderful. Once there, we drove south along the coast through Mandrem, Morjim and then we thought we would have to get the small car ferry across the river to Siolim but there is now a bridge so we crossed that way and then headed for the beaches at Vagator, Anjune, Baga, Calangute and Candolim. Had a look at them but I wanted to stop at Candolim beach to see if there was any of the huge tanker left that was wrecked just off shore. There wasn't but the beach was good - I had a paddle and we got hassled by some women who wanted to know if my skirt was from Asda or Primark!!! Got back in the car and took a few pictures of places I went 10 years ago. A lot has changed. I recognised the hotel but it looked very run down. It is so much better doing a self drive though because you get to stop when you want and see a lot more of the countryside and meet the people. We can't believe today is our 8th day!! Still got 13 days to go and done so much already.

Today we are going to Old Goa and a spice plantation, maybe but we left the lights on in the car last night and so the battery is flat. I have left Steve outside with about 8 Goans trying to sort it out!! They think we are mad driving round without a guide but I told them it's an adventure. It's too hot for me outside though!!! Tomorrow we leave to go a little futher south to Majorda where we have an apartment for 6 nights so I am looking forward to doing some cooking instead of eating out all the time. We will explore the area in the south from there. We also need to organise our trip back up north to Mumbai but I think I just about have that sorted.

The people are so lovely and there is nothing they wouldn't do for you. This resort is great as well - really cheap, 2 minute walk along a little stream to the beach, one bedroom apartment, fantastic, cheap food in restaurant, cheap drinks and awesome staff!!! Recommend it to anyone!!

Right best go and see what the boys are doing...hopefully we are good to go!!
