Today was another challenge. We started our hike at 9:20 am and headed uphill for 4 miles with a 3000 ft elevation gain. Awesome views as always. Some places we had to hang on railings to maintain our balance on the ledges..we made it to the refuge by noon for our first lunch with some nice hot coffee..It was cooler at the top with temp about 60 degrees only and when the winds picked up it cooled us down substantially. On the way up we saw a couple of deer and another ibex who put on quite a show for us. At the top of our destination we had a 2nd lunch and rested while taking in 360 degrees of the entire mountainous region. it was magnificent. We hiked 6.5 hr and covered 8 miles. We had our farewell dinner tonight and everyone was quite proud of their accomplishments this week. We hiked over 50 km and covered 1/3 rd of the Tour of Mt Blanc which is 150 km in total. Tomorrow we leave this wonderful place to return home with fond memories of our experiences here in the Alps.

That's about it for this trip journal..see you all soon.

love, viv
