|Today's hike was the most challenging of all according to Oliver, our hike leader. We reached the highest altitude of all the hikes. We climbed 3000 ft and hikes over 7 miles according to my pedometer. Our hike was full of views in every direction...We could see the point on top of the mountain where Swiss, French, and Italian Alps meet . On our uphill journey we spotted a Ibex nearby. She was too scared of all of us and all the other hikers on this busy track. Later we saw a marmot who also posed for a picture. We hiked up to the refuge and got there after 4:15 hrs of uphill hiking all the way..quite a challenge but worth the effort to see the turquoise blue/green lakes near the refuge. This is where we enjoyed our lunch. The hike up also included some ladder climbing up the steep rocks..you will see a nice pic of Lorna climbing this ladder. After hiking back down 1500 ft we connected with a tram that took us all the way to the bottom..what a relief that was.
Last night we had an awesome sunset..a pic is included..tomorrow we have a day off so we are going to visit a nearby resort town and lake...lac annessey...and dinner at a nice restaurant in Les Houches.
That's it for now. thanks for all your notes and kind thoughts.
once again trouble compressing some pics and program won't allow them to be uploaded..sorry.
