We finally made it to Yellowstone. We stayed in an RV park in West Yellowstone MT which was really convenient to the park. We drove around most of the park all except the very south end. The scenery is very pretty in places. There is a lot of remains from the fire of 1988 that almost burned up the park but a lot of small trees have grown back and will someday look full again. We saw a herd of elk cross one of the many rivers; one of the large females went to this little grass island and just lay down and looked at us. The drive took us to two very pretty falls, one smaller and a larger one at the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. The bubbling areas are really something to see. The colors are very clear and the water is very hot. We only watched the geysers from the road except for old faithful. There was a large crowd as you can see. You see one gayer you see them all. LOL. We went to Mammoth Hot Springs for lunch and as we were sitting and eating we could see out the window to a grassy area where a large bull buffalo has wondered in. There were people everywhere, large crowds and all of a sudden I saw a bucking buffalo and I said to Larry, "There is a man trying to ride a buffalo and he just got bucked off." We found out later that the buffalo ran at him and tossed him on to his back and then bucked him off. He did not move after he hit the ground. Several people ran up to him to try to help and one female ranger got to him also. The buffalo was still acting in a aggressive manner so they got two other ranger trucks to run him back to a safer area. The ranger team working on him acted in a frantic manner and an ambulance finally came to get him. We did not find out if he lived or not. We think he was taking pictures and got too close. All of the signs tell you to stay back and not to approach the animals but some people do it anyway. We did enjoy out time here at Yellowstone, saw a lot of very pretty country. Well on to Virginia City tomorrow. Love Alice and Larry
