|My flight from JFK to Geneva was a smooth ride. We arrived 1/2 hr early and when I got off the plane, Lorna, Larry and Russ were waiting for me in the terminal. We had some time to kill before Oliver our hike leader was due to meet all of us at the airport to shuttle us to Les Houches. So we enjoyed some expresso cafe to keep us awake. After everyone arrived we got to our lodge, Chalet Savoy. Then we were off to explore the nearby town of Chamonix. We picked a nice place to sit outside for lunch, wine and beer. Later it started raining pretty hard as we tried to find the bus no. 1 to take us back to Les Houches. Unfortunately we got on the wrong bus going the opposite way we needed. Eventually we made our way back to the Chalet for a nice dinner of duck, potatoes, fresh veggies and bread. The local wine here is delicious and only costs 6.50 euro..After dinner everyone was exhausted from long day of travels..slept like a rock.
