We packed up camp and left Chincoteague today at 10 am. Then we went to the Wallops NASA Station. It's only a couple of miles off Chincoteague Island. I learned some things about NASA and space--like why we need space suits-- and I saw a piece of moon rock. I bought some more astronaut food. We headed south to get to the mainland of Virginia. We went on the Chesapeake Bay tunnel Bridge that goes from the tip of the peninsula to Virginia Beach. The tunnel-bridge is 23 miles long. We went thru 2 tunnels of 1 mile each. There are 4 man made islands along the bridge. It was pretty cool. We drove for a couple of hours. We stopped in Boydton, VA and camped at a Corp of Engineers campground on a reservoir. Our camp spot was very nice. It was different from the other campgrounds because it was more wild-like. It was very hot--almost 100 degrees even when we set up camp at 6pm. So we turned on out a/c and ate inside; we made microwave s'mores instead of campfire ones! It got to 103 degrees during the day. We drove 250 miles today.
