Beale St in Memphis

Lynds at Hooters

AAAGH excitement

Chesney on the swing

Chez and Gretchen Wilson

Well, we had an AWESOME time in Memphis. Hideous coach journey kinda knocked us out a bit so we slept for about 18 hours when we first arrived... but the next day we headed into town nd went up Beale St which is a big famous street, in the 1920s was really buzzing and apparently the birthplace of blues etc etc. Anyway we were a bit cultural for a while and then we went to the cinema to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Johnny Depp was of course fab and very weird, a bit Lemony Snicket I thought. Good stuff anyway.

THEN of course that evening the magic day had finally come, Kenny actual Chesney in concert, I almost died of excitement. Turns out Kenny Chesney fans are mostly girls, fat, or have very bad hair and so there was little eye candy for Runt and me except for the Chez himself (I have grown to love him). Oh my goodness it was so great. Gretchen Wilson, the support, was really good, I quite wanna get her album now, but Chesney himself was veritably godlike. He did *all* my favourite songs, Uncle Kracker was there to do When the Sun Goes Down, I almost exploded with joy. And he did She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy as the last song, it was amazing, I felt as tho I was back in my Boyzone days :D

The next day we headed out to Graceland and did the platinum tour - saw the aeroplanes (they were ridiculous, 24 carat gold plated seatbelt buckles), the cars (of which there were many) and then of course the house itself. It was as mad as I had hoped, seriously 70s madness interior decor, the TV room was bright yellow and navy blue ALL OVER, there was a green room with shagpile carpet on the ceiling, it was fabulous. Ooh and a circular white fluffy bed, I want one. Felt rawther Kinglike for the rest of the day, Elvis music of course playing all over the grounds and we were rocking out to it, he is the man (except Kenny of course)
