We started out today at the US side of the Niagara Falls. This view never changes, but it is extraordinary, nevertheless. We had lunch at the Top of the Falls Restaurant looking out over the Falls and took the trolley ride around the Falls to see it all.
Then we went to the Castellani Art Museum at the University of Niagara where they had a display about the history of the Underground Railroad. Historical photos and artifacts, as well as artists sculptures and paintings told the story of the Underground Railroad and the part the Niagara region played in transporting slaves into Canada.
We decided to go across the border to the Canadian side of Niagara Falls and see the light display after dark. They have floodlights on the Falls in all different colors. Absolutely beautiful. At 10:00 p.m. on Fridays they even have fireworks. We watched the fireworks from the parking lot, then left, hoping to make a Walmart at St. Catherines. But we missed the turnoff and ended up in the parking lot of an all-night restaurant in a small town. The traffic on the Trans-Canada highway was horrific, even at that time of night.
This was the first time I had seen the Falls from the Canada side. Would strongly recommend that perspective.
