This is my eighth trip to Vilcabamba, the Valley of Longevity, 4 hours south of Cuenca ($12 van ride). This little town has beautiful scenery, good food, spa services, hiking and horseback riding opportunities and our hotel of choice is Izhcayluma. We always meet interesting travelers while here and I never tire of the place. It is owned by brothers Peter and Dieter Schramm from Germany.
