We decided to spend one night in Gozo with Gavin, Louise, Marty & Ray. We booked a lovely hotel, Xlendi Hotel & Spa. From the rooftop of the hotel, we had a picturesque view of the ocean and the town of Xlendi.
Gozo is half the size of Malta, with one tenth of the population. It is different to Malta, even though it shares the same language, it uses a distinct dialect. In my opinion, it is a unique and untouched island with rugged landscape and a spectacular coastline. It has baroque churches and old stone farmhouses which dot the countryside. The island is also filled with historical sites, forts and amazing panoramas, as well as one of the archipelago's best-preserved prehistoric temples, Ä gantija (over 5000 years old). Gozo is less urban than Malta, with fertile fields and a more rural community.
It was a full 2 days of sightseeing, but Gavin & Louise managed to spend a few hours at the beach and enjoying the sun while we continued to see more sights.
A quick 15 minutes ferry ride and we were back on the mainland in Malta.
