The 15th is a day off in Sioux Falls, SD. We are in a nice tourist hotel in the shopping area of town (like on Jefferson Road in Rochester or 200 & I-75 in Ocala) -- lots of stores, but nothing of the character of the town. I rode my bicycle on the bike path along the river. Saw a little of the "Zoo of the Plains", golf courses, and the USS South Dakota Memorial.

The memorial was interesting. It was a ground level park laid out to the specs of the ship. There were also some parts of the ship (a 16" gun, anchor and chain, propeller, various other bits of equipment. It was really interesting and gave a bit of the feel for the scale of the ship.

While riding into Sioux Falls yesterday, we saw a kiddie tractor pull in one of the small towns where we took a break. It was just like the real thing (start 'em young). My pictures aren't very good, but you can see the apparatus. They hook up a tow sled to the toy tractor. The weight box starts at the bottom and rises to increase resistance as the sled is towed forward. The pictures show it in action with some 5 year olds.
