We spent 13 days in Croton-On-Hudson which seems like a LONG time looking back at it. Especially when we would have preferred to be going up the Hudson. Croton was nice enough but not somewhere you’d choose to spend a vacation. So we made the best of it. Top priority was a couple Orthopedic Doctor appts., more Xrays, and rest time for Maggie’s hand. We rented a car and did some sightseeing at West Point Military Academy and Bear Mt. State Park. We needed to find a doggie daycare for Camden so we could spend plenty of time getting to and touring West Point. So off to Canine Kindergarten Camden did go and what a wonderful time she had. They have Puppy Cam so you can watch your little darling in action (could watch on our cell phone if we were set up for that). She really craves doggie companionship so she got a fine fix while there. She only had an issue of sharing her toys which sounds pretty kindergarten to us. We think she misses rough-housing with her boyfriend Enzo, a Portuguese Water Dog Pup at home.
We had time to kill so Roger decided to take down the dinghy and introduce Camden to it. After last summer’s fiasco of losing the dinghy line and having to jump into the cold Maine waters to retrieve it -- with camera in pocket I might add -- he emptied his pockets and dropped the dinghy in the water. Roger took Camden for a short ride while rowing the dinghy. Camden looked at him like “So what’s the big deal? This is almost boring!” So Roger took down the dinghy motor and hooked it up. Before we knew it we were all in the dinghy heading across river to a secluded beach. Once there Camden couldn’t wait to get out and run, run, run. Yes, she is a speedy runner, even with swim vest and running in the surf. Roger called back to Maggie, while in a Kilgore trot himself, “I wasn’t counting on this!” Eventually Camden turned around and passed Roger going the other way and passed Maggie standing there holding the dinghy line. Talk about laughing and barking going on. We almost wet our pants. Camden had a ball and had no intention of leaving us. She just jumped, swam, chased, gulped water, coughed, and got thoroughly water logged.
While we were in Croton the country was going through more of the heat waves that have been going on for a few years now. Because you are all suffering the same we will not bother to complain, even if it was hotter than Longboat Key much of the time.
We left Croton-On-Hudson July 12 and spent one night in Kingston, NY at Roundout Marina. July 13 we were headed to Albany Yacht Club where we will be a couple nights and then move over to Troy Town Marina in Troy, NY for a few nights as well. While there Roger will figure our how he’ll swing down Dande Girl’s Radar Arch to go under some low bridges up the river. We were lucky to get to AYC on Friday night. They had a most delicious pot roast dinner that night that was prepared by members and we cocktailed at their bar. Friendly people they are.
